1) Data We Process

• Account data: Firebase/Google user ID (UID), email, and account display name when available.
• Profile data: display name, gender, phone number (if provided), and profile photo (if uploaded).
• Location data: precise location, timestamp, accuracy, altitude, and session trail history while sessions are active.
• Camera data: camera access is used only to scan session QR codes.
• Notification and device data: push token, internal app device identifier, platform metadata, and update timestamps.
• Technical logs: logs required for diagnostics, reliability, and security.

2) Why We Process Data

• to authenticate users;
• to create, join, and manage sessions;
• to provide real-time collaborative map features;
• to build session recaps and statistics;
• to send alerts (SOS, targeted messages, meetup events);
• to protect backend services and prevent abuse.

3) Legal Basis (where applicable)

• performance of the service requested by the user;
• user consent for runtime permissions (camera, location, notifications);
• legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, maintenance).

4) Data Sharing

• Session participants: your session-related data (location/trails/display name) is shared with participants in the same session.
• Service providers: Google Firebase / Google Cloud services used to run the app (Auth, Firestore, Functions, Storage, Messaging, App Check, Maps).
• We do not sell personal data.

5) Data Retention

• account/profile data is retained while the account is active;
• session and recap data is retained for app history and statistics;
• local cache data is stored on-device to improve loading speed and can be removed by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.

6) Security

• TLS encryption in transit;
• access control through authentication and backend rules;
• reasonable technical and organizational safeguards.

7) Your Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of your personal data.

You can also revoke app permissions (camera, location, notifications) from your device settings at any time.
